Watching a pro reel in a whopper, President Bush
is PhotoShopped standing neck deep in pond water.

Saturday, Bush and his father...go fishing at the ranch's bass pond with a crew from the Outdoor Life Network's Fishing with Roland Martin.
The White House approached the network about coming to film Bush, who is eager to cultivate an image as a sportsman with the millions of voters who hunt and fish. The crew was to bring its own boat for the shoot on the small pond.

Bush Spends 2nd Day Out Of View.

I'm told that when he takes days off, you know, he totally relaxes: He doesn't watch television, he doesn't read the newspapers, he doesn't make long-term plans, doesn't worry about the economy. I thought about that for a moment. I said, sounds to me like it's just like life in Washington, doesn't it?
--Senator John F. Kerry

This is Bush's 33rd visit to his ranch since becoming president. He has spent all or part of 233 days on his Texas ranch since taking office, according to a tally by CBS News. Adding his 78 visits to Camp David and his five visits to Kennebunkport, Maine, Bush has spent all or part of 500 days in office at one of his three retreats, or more than 40 percent of his presidency.

We're not going to see success on our watch.
--Rice before 911 Commission

BEN-VENISTE: Did you tell the president, at any time prior to August 6th, of the existence of al Qaeda cells in the United States?

RICE: I really don't remember, Commissioner, whether I discussed this with the president.

BEN-VENISTE: Isn't it a fact, Dr. Rice, that the August 6th PDB warned against possible attacks in this country? And I ask you whether you recall the title of that PDB?

RICE: I believe the title was, "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States."

BEN-VENISTE: Now, was the president, in words or substance, alarmed or in any way motivated to take any action.

RICE: I'm told he was told this is historical information and there was nothing actionable in this.

And the strong willed woman of today

Plus!

The tightly made-over face of Karen Hughes jabbered like a speed freak on this evening's Larry King Show affording Larry only brief interjections.
Regarding Clarke, the strong-willed Hughes says she was there but neglects to mention that she wasn't cleared to be there once Clarke officially opened his mouth...oops.
From Ann McFeatters, Block News Alliance:

She tweaks his speeches -- long-distance -- so they sound like him.

He is comfortable with strong-willed women...The president doesn't pull any punches with women; there's as much towel-snapping with them as there is with the boys.

Rice had already changed the nature of the National Security Council. She cut the staff by roughly 10 percent, though accurate numbers are elusive…it was the cabinet agencies, she believed, that had to act on policy…that preserved time to concentrate on issues more familiar to her, to tutor Mr. Bush and to translate his instincts and decisions.

New to the Job, Rice Focused on More Traditional Fears
