According to a variety of media, the tragic combat death of modern American hero Pat Tillman happened yesterday during a firefight in southern Afghanistan.
As of this posting there has been no official DOD announcement, however, 5 minutes ago Bloomberg reported the NFL confirming Tillman’s death and offered a reaction from Arizona Senator John McCain:

I am heartbroken today by the news of Pat Tillman's death. The tragic loss of this extraordinary young man will seem a heavy blow to our nation's morale, as it is surely a grievous injury to his loved ones.

One wonders, in light of what will be tremendous public interest in the death of this extraordinary young man and symbol, if DOD will perform a particularly bushian about face and reverse yesterdays reinforced ban regarding photography of soldier’s caskets returning to the United States?

From Larry King:

Bandar: What Bob said was accurate, except that I was informed that the president has not made a decision yet...
Woodward: That goes in the hall of fame of dodges and fishy explanations. I think it should get an Academy Award.

From the Insecta Inspecta:

Because they have so many enemies...They must blend in with their habitat to avoid being eaten. They have a triangular-shaped head with a large compound eye on each side...Apparently, the mantis in flight will drastically change its flight pattern.
